I have received several puzzling looks, when I share my puppy’s name is Huckle.

Apparently you missed half of your childhood, because Huckle is the name of the mischief cat in several of the famous author, Richard Scarry’s short stories. The little cat always wore red suspenders and went on adventures with his best-friend, Lowly Worm..

So it’s Huckle as in Huckle. Not Huckle as in Huckleberry.
